The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEIICC), London’s prestigious purpose-built venue in the heart of Westminster, has appointed Kenneth Ludlam as non-executive director.
Mr Ludlam will chair The QEII Conference Centre’s audit committee as well as taking a seat on the QEII Conference Centre’s management board. He is one of two non-executive directors on the Centre’s management board.
Mr Ludlam was group chief accountant and associate director of Hanson PLC until September 2002. Following this, from September 2002 to September 2003, he was head of internal audit and risk management at Hanson Plc. He was also a member of Hanson’s audit and risk committees and sat on the board of Hanson Finance Plc and a number of other Hanson subsidiary companies.
Commenting on his appointment Ernest Vincent, chief executive of The QEII Conference Centre, said: “The blue-chip nature of our business demands that we operate in a highly professional manner. Mr Ludlam will bring a wealth of experience to our management board and will strengthen the governance of the Centre.
“We are a high profile public building of some significance and we have put in place a governance structure that is resilient and robust. We have followed Cabinet Office guidelines in setting the effectiveness of our boards and Mr Ludlam’s appointment reflects this.”
In addition to his position as non-executive director of The QEIICC, Mr Ludlam holds a number of external posts including non-executive director (appointed by the Ministry of Defence) of the Armed Forces Pay Administration Agency and chair of the audit committee. He also reports to the MOD on the Armed Forces Pension Fund. He is trustee and honorary treasurer of CRASH – the construction and building industries’ charity for the homeless – and treasurer of the Construction Products Association.
Mr Ludlam sits on external committees at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) connected with financial reporting. He is trustee of the Hanson PLC central pension fund.
