QEIICC Capital Investment Programme

The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEIICC) – London’s premier purpose-built venue in the heart of Westminster – is continuing its £5 million capital investment programme with a further tranche of works next month.

This latest investment represents the centre’s ongoing commitment to meet the conference industry’s increasingly complex demands for security and cutting edge technology.

During the month of August, The QEII Conference Centre will be refurbishing its foyer area and Business Centre on the ground floor to incorporate new corporate colours. The Business Centre is being completely re-designed with new high-tech equipment to facilitate free internet access and ISDN connection and will include copying and faxing facilities and state of the art communications technology.

In addition, there will be a programme of lift replacement with more modern systems and furbishings. In the course of the next 12 months a wide range of conference seating and event furniture will be replaced, including chairs, writing tables and lounge seats.

Helen Blake, The QEII Conference Centre Marketing Manager, said: “The Business Centre will become an office away from the office, with every communication facility a business traveller could need. The area has been re-designed with both the event organiser and business delegate in mind, with easy access to the main event areas, a small meeting area and high-tech modern facilities.”

These developments are part of a continual programme of modernisation of the Centre’s major conference areas aimed at meeting customer expectations for a modern high-quality venue with leading-edge technology. Customer feedback has played a major part in where and how the investment is being made. The last financial year saw investment in the third floor which included laying a new floor in the Benjamin Britten Lounge to overlay a complete rewiring of production, IT and telecommunication services. Around five miles of cabling was installed as part of this programme.

The QEIICC is uniquely situated in the heart of London against the stunning backdrop of Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, The Houses of Parliament and The London Eye. The Centre has four main auditoria, seven conference rooms and over 20 smaller meeting rooms across seven floors, catering for events for 40 to 1,000 delegates.
