Senior Management Restructure

The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre announces senior management team restructure in line with strategic growth

The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEIICC), London’s most prestigious purpose built centre for professional meetings and events, has announced a restructure of the senior management team.

This restructure will now see commercial director, Stephen Norcliffe, assume the expanded role of commercial director / chief operating officer (COO). In this new role, Stephen will take director level responsibility for the event management team, ICT and the in-house AV team, Interface, as well as continuing his role heading the commercial department.

Stephen Norcliffe joined as commercial director in March 2001 and is responsible for the marketing and sales programmes for one of the UK’s most prominent conference centres. The Centre recently announced a record turnover for the third consecutive year for 2005/6 (£10.845 million – a three percent increase on last year) and exceeded all performance targets in this period. The Centre carried out its annual refurbishment programme during August, investing over half a million this year to incorporate state-of-the-art lighting and the integration of data and communication technologies.

Stephen continues to be instrumental in the re-branding of the Centre with a new corporate image and has raised its profile both at home and abroad. His efforts ensure The QEIICC continues to be recognised as an internationally acclaimed conference venue for hosting leading conferences and high impact events.

Stephen is also a board member of ICCA UK & Ireland Chapter and is responsible for marketing. He brokered the three year business deal between ICCA and Leith’s – thus giving ICCA the funding for forthcoming joint initiatives with the meeting industry.

Comments The QEIICC’s chief executive, Ernest Vincent; “Over the last five years Stephen has been a great asset to the Centre. Together, we work well as a team and with his skills, experience and knowledge of the Centre and industry, it is a natural progression for Stephen to extend his portfolio of responsibilities.

“I chose to effect this change to ensure that we are in the best position to successfully implement our future plans and to retain our position as London’s leading venue for professional meetings and events.”
