The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEIICC), London’s most prestigious purpose built centre for professional meetings and events, was the venue chosen for the announcement of the Tour de France 2007 route following the news that London will be hosting the Grand Depart.
The Tour de France is the most famous worldwide cycling race and is recognised as the largest annual sporting event in the world. The Grand Depart takes place outside of France every three to four years and will take place in London on Friday, 6th July 2007, the details of which were announced at a press conference held at The QEIICC on Thursday, 9th February 2006.
The press conference took place in The QEIICC’s Churchill and Pickwick Rooms and was attended by Ken Livingstone and the national press, amongst others.
