The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEIICC), London’s most prestigious purpose built centre for professional meetings and events, has been awarded the ‘Best UK Venue’ title in the UK venues and destinations category at this year’s Confex event, along with receiving a ‘commended’ in the business excellence category.

This year, Confex stand judging incorporated every exhibitor at the show, with each award having one winner and two respective commendations given at the judge’s discretion. The ‘Best UK Venue’ award was judged according to how well each venue exhibited and represented themselves to the shows visitors, while contribution to visitor numbers and general interest in the show where also taken into consideration.

Paul Colston, editor of Conference News judged the award, and comments: “The new senior management team under Chief Operating Officer (COO) Stephen Norcliffe has driven through the technological innovation, a non smoking policy and used all levels of staff in a marketing campaign to open up this iconic London venue. The catering link up with Leith’s has kept the cuisine and food offering at the top of the menu. The flexibility of the venue belies the grand old Westminster Centre’s reputation for government and public sector set pieces. This award win is a well deserved accolade.”

COO at The QEIICC, Stephen Norcliffe comments: “We are extremely pleased to receive this Confex award as it recognises a number of the team’s great achievements over the past year. With even further investment and ideas in the pipeline for this year, I look forward to continuing our development of The QEIICC as London’s premier purpose built venue.”
