The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEIICC), London’s prestigious purpose-built venue in the heart of Westminster, has been chosen as the venue for the main event of this year’s Sunday Times UK Business Week which will take place at the Centre from 8 – 9 June.
According to Charles Ross, event director, Single Market Events, organisers of UK Business Week:
“The QEII Conference Centre was chosen for this high profile event following extensive research which has shown that senior directors and owners of medium-sized businesses want to attend a highly interactive forum, rather than a generic business exhibition typically held at some of the more traditional exhibition venues. The QEII Conference Centre’s layout, capacity and location lend themselves perfectly to allow this event to fulfil these requirements.”
The Sunday Times UK Business Week will be using the entire The QEII Conference Centre over two days in an innovative event which is aimed at giving fast-growth companies an interactive forum to exchange thoughts and ideas.
The speakers who will be at the Centre will include leading industrialists such as Gerald Ratner, Pete Waterman and Peter Kenyon, chief executive officer of Chelsea Football Club. Other speakers include Jeremy Peat, group chief economist, The Royal Bank of Scotland; Michael McDonagh, partner, KPMG; Mark Spinner, partner, Eversheds; Philip Green of Arcadia, as well as Penny Streeter of Ambition 24 Hours – CBI entrepreneur of the year, 2004.
Among the activities being planned are:
- a forum on business finance;
- sessions chaired by Sky News business editor, Michael Wilson, with some of the biggest names in business leadership and innovation;
- The Greenhouse – a theatre focusing on hot issues for business including exporting and marketing; and
- an exhibition offering a range of business solutions with some 100 exhibitors taking part
Stephen Norcliffe,The QEII Conference Centre commercial director, said:
“It is obvious from our dealings with Single Market Events that this is going to be a highly professional, well organised and worthwhile event, and it is precisely for these reasons that we are pleased to be the host venue for London.”
UK Business Week is aimed at fast-growth companies and offers decision-makers, including finance directors and chief executives, information and ideas to help improve the bottom line and grow their business. The London event is part of a nationwide series of events taking place in June.
The Sunday Times UK Business Week 2004 is sponsored by Business Link, The Royal Bank of Scotland and Vodafone and is supported by The Institute of Directors and the British Chamber of Commerce.
