The venue was everything we wanted, the food was excellent and we didn't have any technical hitches. The serving staff were also all incredible accommodating and helpful.
We had a vision of what we wanted to achieve and the QEIICC helped make that become a reality.
This was a very testing time for all, but the fact that we had such excellent facilities and the support of a truly professional team made things a great deal easier.
Overall, our event ran very smoothly and my clients were very happy with the outcome. Most of all it is the attitude of the staff who help to make the day run so well...
The staff at The QEIICC are always excellent and are the Centre’s greatest asset.
Sustainability in Events
On the 18th May 2012, The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEIICC) will be partnering with Positive Impact Events to deliver a half day educational masterclass on sustainability, with the objective of helping event professionals learn more about the latest industry developments and how to start implementing sustainable initiatives. Positive Impact Events is a not for profit education company who provide a wealth of support and resources to the industry.
It’s fair to say that most organisations in the events industry are realising that sustainability is becoming an essential part of business strategy. The drivers for implementing sustainable measures can be for very different reasons and will most likely have a multiple impact across operations. As well as the ability to respond to the requests from clients around sustainability, event industry professionals find business benefits include cost savings, leadership opportunities and resource efficiency.
This masterclass presents a great opportunity to learn more about sustainability in the events industry, as well as time for networking with your hosts and fellow attendees. Along with case studies show casing best practice, attendees will participate in an interactive session, which highlights how you can create sustainability objectives.
This event is suitable for events organisers, sustainability practitioners, venues and anyone looking to implement sustainability into their events. If you want to start your sustainability journey but aren’t sure where, this event will give you some key tips and help identify the right path for your organisation.
In particular this masterclass will explain the frameworks for monitoring and reporting on sustainability, including BS 8901 (soon to become ISO 20121) and the Global Reporting Initiative Event Organizer Sector Supplement – GRI EOSS. These are valuable tools for approaching the challenges of sustainability.
We will be looking at the business case for sustainability and the opportunities that implementing sustainability can present. Guest speakers at the masterclass include representatives from the sustainable events industry, supply chain and event organisers. The QEIICC will be presenting on behalf of venues, explaining the action they have taken and the obstacles they have overcome.
Positive Impact Events will be facilitating this interactive session, covering key areas such as how to start your sustainability journey, how to identify issues and what next steps to take. These sessions provide a chance to discuss common obstacles with your peers and to network with like-minded individuals.
